The last 12 months have been a time of change for our unit. Not that long ago we were known as Catholic Safety, Health and Welfare SA and we only provided advice and support to worksites in regard to safety management and legislation.

But with the incorporation of injury management and Return-to-Work claims, we have broadened our scope so that we support employers and employees beyond safety. Now we also support their recovery from injury and return to work. Thus, Catholic Safety and Injury Management was born.

While we have been busy supporting our worksites during the changeover and implementation of new processes, we have also been hard at work behind the scenes to develop a website resource that is easy to navigate and has all you need in easily accessible places. Introducing www.csaim.org.au, the website for all things Catholic Safety and Injury Management.

As usual the Procedures page is here with access to the CCES safety and injury management systems. While it may look different, all of the familiar information and guidance is available. The same goes for the Forms, Tools and Guidelines pages for many of the resources to support you.

The biggest change is the inclusion the two dedicated areas: Safety and Injury Management.

Safety is where you will find resources dedicated to supporting safety requirements for your worksite including risk assessments, hazardous chemical support, and hazard alerts. A dedicated Work Health and Safety Coordinator page will contain useful information specific to those at the worksites who are tasked with implementing and managing the safety system.

Injury Management provides guidance and information for when an employee is injured as a result of work, including how to make a claim, support for payroll staff and what early intervention is all about. Again, a dedicated page for Return to Work Coordinators has been added as a place to gather information for those who are responsible for supporting injured workers at the worksite.

The other major change to how we share information is the introduction of News. Instead of a quarterly Safety Bulletin that contains articles on a variety of topics, Catholic Safety and Injury Management will now be developing shorter News items. These will come out more frequently but be limited to a specific topic. They may include legislative changes, process changes, new information, or updates on the Catholic Safety and Injury Management team. Don't worry, the historical Safety Bulletins will still be available, so the information they contain will be accessible.

Take some time to familiarise yourself with the new website. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact our office on 8210 8101.
