Risk Assessments

Identify safer ways to do the work.

Risk assessing is the process of determining the level of risk that is associated with different work practices, activities, substances, or pieces of equipment. By going through the risk assessment process you can identify specific hazards and put controls in place to limit the likelihood of the hazard causing harm. CSaIM have developed a number of generic risk assessments for a variety of activities, events and equipment that have been identified at worksites.

A workplace should conduct a risk assessment:
- when a work practice changes
- before purchase/use of a new piece of equipment or a substance
- before an activity or event (eg Gala Day, Sports Day)
- before undertaking hazardous work (eg working at heights)
- when there is a change in the work environment

The below risk assessments are available for worksites. However, they must be reviewed and modified in consultation with the relevant people at your worksite to ensure that they are appropriate for the equipment, task, etc.
